How To Protect A Word Document (MS word, Ms Excell)

Sometimes we write something special in Microsoft word document or Microsoft excel which document we don’t want to share with others but we don’t know how to protect a word document. You can protect a document by simple way where you can also set a password.  The reader will need a password to subsequently unprotect the document. In previous article we wrote about folder protection locker. Now it is easy to lock a word document with Microsoft Office. Let’s see how to lock a document
with short cut way after finishing with the document, click on File > Save As > Tools > General Options > Read-Only Recommended. Put a password to modify as well so
that no one can edit the document and save it under the same name. Any changes have to be saved under a different file name.
Let’s go to our full discussion with picture shot. To apply a password to document, follow these steps.
Steps-01: At first we will open a new Microsoft word document and we will write something on it. Then click on the following picture.
Steps-02: Open Save As dialog box by selecting ‘Save As’ command from File menu.
Steps-03: Click "Tools" button of Save As dialog box and choose "General Options" from drop down menu, "Save" dialog box appears as shown in figure below picture
[Note from how to protect a word document: If it is applied then you have to give the correct password to modify the document, otherwise your document is opened but you cannot modify the document. It means that your document becomes read-only]

Steps-04: Enter first password in "Password to open" text box and second password in "Password to modify" text box (if required) and click "Ok" button of dialog box. Microsoft Word will open "Confirm Password" dialog box for the confirmation of passwords

[Note: The maximum length of password is 15 characters.]
Steps-05: Re-enter the password to open and password to modify and click "Ok" button of Confirm Password dialog boxes one by one. After than you will get a folder to save of password protect file. Just save it.
Now you can do it with easily, enjoy it, if you choose something of my work, I want a comment from you, I think you may clear from how to protect a word document.
